In 2025, the European Culture Awards will be presented in Chemnitz, the Capital of Culture

Spots on! Next year, the whole of Europe will be looking to Chemnitz: With the awarding of the European Culture Awards on May 9, 2025, an important and glamorous highlight of the Capital of Culture year has already been set. The first prize winners for 2025 have already been announced: In addition to the city's great son Matthias Schweighöfer, the Dresden Kreuzchor will be honored.

With a history spanning over 800 years, the Dresden Kreuzchor is part of UNESCO's intangible world heritage. The traditional ensemble is being honored with the European Young Talent Award for its extraordinary commitment to young talent. The baton of the host cities was already passed on at the European Culture Award Gala in Luxembourg: In the presence of Saxony's Minister of State for Culture Barbara Klepsch, Chemnitz Opera Director Dr. Christoph Dittrich gave the laudatory speech in Luxembourg for conductor Alondra de la Parra, who received this year's European Culture Award. Chemnitz Mayor Sven Schulze also promoted the cultural capital of next year in the local Philharmonic Hall. Advance ticket sales have started.
