Götz Alsmann – the host of the evening

An evening not to be missed. Götz Alsmann, one of Germany’s most popular entertainers and musicians, will lead through the program in the Church of Our Lady. “I am very much looking forward to the extraordinary atmosphere in the Church of Our Lady”, says Götz Alsmann. “As a musician, I am naturally eager to hear the sound that so many people rave about, as well as to meet the awardees and laudators,” said the entertainer.

Götz Alsmann, who holds a doctorate in musicology, is best known for his presentation of the WDR show “Zimmer frei” and for his own performances as a jazz singer and pianist. He has already received several music awards. Alsmann himself now teaches the history of popular music as an honorary professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University. In a unique and high-calibre show on 8 June, European personalities and cultural workers will be honored both in Dresden’s Church of Our Lady and on the Neumarkt stage in front of the church.

In addition to Prince Albert II of Monaco, who will accept the award on behalf of his own foundation together with the German Ocean Foundation, the TAURUS will also be presented with the award: actor Daniel Brühl, world star Nana Mouskouri, the Dresden Music Festival with its director Jan Vogler and the Saxon painter Gerhard Richter. The program, presented by Götz Alsmann, will also be transmitted to the outdoor stage in front of the Church of Our Lady, where the audience is invited to form a musical community at the popular event of the Dresden Music Festival “Dresden singt und musiziert” (literally “Dresden sings and makes music”) as early as 6 pm. A great festival for all!
