International stars expected at the Tonhalle Zurich
The advance ticket sale has begun: On 24th of September, the great European Culture Awards Gala will be hosted by the Tonhalle Zurich. This is the first time that the award ceremony of the coveted TAURUS will take place in Switzerland, which is not a member of the EU but makes an important contribution to European culture. Once again, many international stars will gather at the gala to celebrate the unifying power of culture, first and foremost the hosts of the evening: the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich with its music director Paavo Järvi.
Mario Adorf, who has very special memories of Switzerland, will be honoured for his life’s work.
Furthermore, world-famous music stars who are among the best in their field will be honoured: In addition to the internationally celebrated cellist Sol Gabetta and the sought-after Wagner and Strauss interpreter Camilla Nylund, Bryn Terfel, who was recently appointed Kammersänger of the Vienna State Opera, will also be a guest.
With Nigel Kennedy we honour an artist who has introduced generations of people to the world of classical music through his unconventional performances.
Illya Bondarenko, a young Ukrainian violinist is honoured as Young Artist of the Year.
There are many more prominent award winners on the guest list, which we will announce in the coming weeks.
The patronage for this year’s cultural event has been taken over by the Mayor of Zurich, Corine Mauch.
